Brandon Adam is a U.S. Army veteran from Sandpoint who served as a combat engineer with the 2nd Infantry Division during the Iraq War. In 2007, he was severely injured by a roadside explosively formed projectile, resulting in the loss of both legs above the knee, serious back injuries, nerve damage, and PTSD. While he has achieved remarkable success as an adaptive athlete — including two silver medals at the Winter X Games — today much of his focus and passion centers around the game of golf.

For the past ten years, Brandon has played using a SoloRider adaptive cart, and with advancements in technology, he is excited to soon play out of his very own VertaCat. Access to innovative adaptive equipment continues to expand his independence and competitive potential on the course. Golf is more than a pastime for Brandon — it’s family, community, and growth. His short-term goal is to continue playing regularly with his wife and two daughters, sharing meaningful moments, building memories, and enjoying friendly competition together.

Brandon plays most of his rounds at The Raven at Three Peaks in Silverthorne, Colorado, a mountainous course known for its dramatic elevation changes and challenging greens. Playing at least four times a week, he sharpens his course management and adapts to ever-changing conditions. Another major goal is to compete in tournaments this year and beyond, testing himself in competitive environments, meeting golfers from across the country and abroad, and continuing to grow through the game.

What Brandon values most about golf is its ability to bring people together. The sport has introduced him to relationships he likely would never have formed otherwise. Playing alongside able-bodied athletes is especially meaningful, as it shifts perspectives, showcases what adaptive golfers can accomplish, and motivates him to perform on par with anyone in his group. For Brandon, golf is a lifelong pursuit of improvement — built on learning, adapting, and striving to get better every round — and it is this steady growth, connection, and challenge that make the game so powerful.
