The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ is our September 11, 2001 education program for grades K-12. It provides educators nationwide with the nonfiction, age-appropriate, first-person resources they need to teach children about 9/11. Our materials inform about the events of September 11, 2001, those who were lost, the heroic sacrifices made, and the extraordinary heroism and goodness of everyday people who inspired our nation – while demonstrating the strength and resilience of America’s spirit.
9/11 CURRICULUM
The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ offers scripted, age-appropriate curriculum units for educators. All units are based on nonfiction accounts of September 11, 2001, its aftermath, and include multiple lessons, learning activities, and background for instructors to ensure ease of implementation. Developed by educators in the 9/11 community, our lessons meet learning standards and inform children about the day, while also teaching an important skill.
DISCOVERING HEROES® BOOK SERIES
The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ is offering the age-appropriate, nonfiction trilogy the Discovering Heroes® series, written by Kristie Kiernan Bouryal. The series focuses on real events and people who experienced 9/11 to increase awareness to America’s darkest day and everyday heroes. The books are intended for children of all ages, but especially those in grades K-6. The books are exclusively offered through the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ and are available to schools and non-profit organizations at deeply discounted prices.
9/11 SPEAKERS BUREAU
The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ is committed to sharing the true accounts of people who experienced 9/11 firsthand. From 9/11 survivors to first responders, family members of the fallen and witnesses, their stories retell history in relevant, emotive ways that will remain ingrained in the memories of future generations for decades to come.
To honor the lives lost on 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ provides America the opportunity to engage with witnesses to our nation’s history to learn about the day through their personal stories.
9/11 NEVER FORGET MOBILE EXHIBIT
The 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit is a tribute to all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who continue to lose their lives to 9/11-related illnesses. This high-tech, 83-foot tractor-trailer, which transforms into an 1,100 square foot exhibit, is a tool to further educate people across the country about the events of that tragic day. The 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit has traveled to nearly 50 states and Canada.
