Tunnel to Towers Welcomes Three Veterans to “Let Us Do Good Village” in Pasco County

Mortgage-free homes delivered to three Army veterans in Land O’Lakes

LAND O’ LAKES, FLORIDA [May 15, 2026] — The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has delivered three mortgage-free smart homes to injured veterans in its Let Us Do Good Village, in Pasco County:

“The Let Us Do Good Village is a one-of-a-kind community where every home and every street is built for accessibility,” said Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. “It gives these heroes the independence and dignity they deserve not just in their homes, but throughout their entire neighborhood.”

Army Sergeant Steven Ragans

Army Sergeant Steven Ragans is a Florida native who enlisted in the Army in 2014.

SGT Ragans suffered a bilateral fracture of his L5 vertebrae during a training exercise. Despite the injury, he considers serving in the United States Army one of his greatest honors and would choose the same path again without hesitation.

“This home alleviates a ton of stress and worry…Knowing that my biggest monthly bill is taken care of, it allows me to focus on my kids,” said Ragans, and he looks forward to meeting his new neighbors, “This village is a community built on service, where everyone knows what you have been through.”

Army Sergeant Victor Barruzza

In 1967 Army Sergeant Victor Barruzza enlisted the Army at 17 years old with a goal to serve his country in Vietnam.  “I wanted to do my part,” he recalls. “I had a strong sense of duty from a young age… and I am very proud to have honorably served our nation.”

His first duty station was in Okinawa, Japan, then Colorado, before deploying to the front lines of the Vietnam War.

During his service, SGT Barruzza distinguished himself with valor and earned a Bronze Star, multiple Vietnam-era service medals, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Gallantry Award.

While deployed to Vietnam, he was exposed to Agent Orange, which has caused extensive and ongoing health issues.

For his wife Christine, this home represents more than comfort it is long-overdue recognition for her husband’s service in Vietnam. This forever home will give their family validation and security for the future. “There are days Victor can’t walk,” she shared. “This accessible home—with wider doorways and smart features—will truly be a Godsend.”

“It’s thrilling and overwhelming, I have no words, just a deep gratitude to Tunnel Towers,” said SGT Barruzza.

Army Specialist Corine Hamilton

SPC Hamilton was born and raised in Jamaica and came to America after graduating from high school. Driven by a desire to serve, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. But to connect to her father, who was a soldier in Jamaica, she enlisted in the Army in 2020.

On March 27, 2021, she was stationed in Germany when she was injured in a crash that shattered her spine, broke her ribs, and caused numerous internal injuries. She was left paralyzed and wheelchair bound.

She is looking forward to starting her next chapter in the Let Us Do Good Village, “To have a home and a community that is accessible is everything. From the first time I visited, I knew this would be a place I could be comfortable, surrounded by people who understand my struggle.”

After her injury, she found a new passion for adaptive sports. In 2022 and 2023, she competed in the Warrior Games for Team Army, achieving a combined total of 18 medals. She represented Team USA in the Invictus Games, where she earned a silver medal in shot put. In 2024, she earned seven medals at the 2024 National Veterans Wheelchair Games, representing Team Tampa VA.

Tunnel to Towers Smart Home Program

The Tunnel to Towers Smart Home Program builds specially adapted smart homes to help severely injured veterans and first responders live more independently.

Each Tunnel to Towers Smart Home features zero thresholds, motorized doors, and keyless entry for easier access. The lights, temperature, security, and sound systems can be controlled remotely via a smartphone app or touchscreen throughout the house. Wide doors, hallways, and bathrooms enable easy navigation on prosthetics or in a wheelchair.

Honoring 25 Years of Service

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, when FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller gave his life in the line of duty. The Tunnel Towers Foundation continues to honor his legacy by providing mortgage-free homes to injured veterans and first responders nationwide.

To date, the Foundation has delivered more than 1,700 mortgage-free homes and committed over $1 billion to its programs.
