Tunnel to Towers Foundation to Deliver Mortgage-Free Smart Home To Injured Georgia Veteran

Home Dedication for Army Sergeant Samuel Walley set for August 28

PENDERGRASS, GEORGIA [August 28, 2025] – On August 28, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation will present a life-changing, mortgage-free smart home to United States Army Sergeant Samuel Walley, who was catastrophically injured while serving his country in Afghanistan.

Army SGT Walley followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the Army in 2010.

On June 6, 2012, SGT Walley was hit by an IED while deployed in southern Afghanistan. He lost his right leg above the knee, his left arm below the elbow, and suffered a traumatic brain injury in the blast. During his recovery, he underwent 90 surgeries in six months.

SGT Walley returned home and attended the University of North Georgia, where he met his future wife, Hannah.

The couple welcomed two children into their family, and now SGT Walley is looking forward to moving his family into his new smart home.

SGT Walley’s smart home features zero thresholds, motorized doors, and keyless entry for easier access. The lights, temperature, security, and sound system can be controlled remotely via a smartphone app or touchscreens installed throughout the house. Wide doors, hallways, and bathrooms are designed for easy navigation, helping to restore independence and dignity.
