Tunnel to Towers Foundation to Combat Veteran Homelessness in Jacksonville
Foundation to Create 125 Units of Housing for Local Veterans
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA [April 9, 2026] — On April 9, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation will bring its mission to eradicate veteran homelessness, to Jacksonville, by transforming a former hotel into housing for America’s heroes.
The Foundation purchased a shuttered hotel on Baymeadows Road and will convert it into 125 fully renovated, low-cost apartments, as well as 18 comfort homes for veterans on the property. Each unit will feature new flooring, fixtures, appliances, and furniture, providing veterans with a safe, independent place to call home.
Tunnel to Towers Veteran Villages deliver more than just housing, on-site comprehensive support services, including job training, benefits and education assistance, access to medical and mental health care, PTSD counseling, and addiction treatment to address the root causes of homelessness.
Media are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony and hear directly from Tunnel to Towers leadership about the Foundation’s plans for this transformative Jacksonville project.
Launched in 2023, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation Homeless Veteran Program has already provided housing assistance to over 17,500 veterans and 8,000 of their children.
Tunnel to Towers Veteran Villages are operating in Houston, Texas; Riverside, California; West Los Angeles, California; and Mableton, Georgia. Nearly a dozen additional sites, such as the Veterans Village in Bradenton, FL, are currently under construction or in the planning phase.
Tunnel to Towers continues its original mission to support America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
