Tunnel to Towers Foundation to Break Ground on Birmingham Veteran Village

Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for Wednesday, October 29 at 11:00 AM

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA [October 29, 2025] – The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a national non-profit, is committed to supporting  America’s first responders, Gold Star families, and military veterans, is now bringing its mission to eradicate Veteran Homelessness to Birmingham, Alabama. 

Tunnel to Towers has acquired the hotel located at 4300 Colonnade Parkway and will transform it into Veteran housing with wrap-around on-site support services.

On Wednesday, October 29, at 11:00 AM, local leaders and representatives from Tunnel to Towers will gather at the site for a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of the construction project. 

Once completed, the Birmingham Veteran Village will offer 110 units of stable housing and onsite access to life-changing services such as:

• Job training and employment support
• Educational resources
• Mental health and PTSD counseling
• Addiction recovery services
• Medical care access
• Help navigating VA benefits

“The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is excited to announce its plans to transform this former hotel into a beautiful and dignified home for approximately 110 veterans in the Birmingham area,” said Gavin Naples, Sr. Vice President, Homeless Veteran Program. “Tunnel to Towers is committed to making sure no veteran is left behind on the streets they helped protect. We are honored to work alongside local leaders to bring hope and healing to veterans here.”

In 2022, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation launched a national Homeless Veteran Program with a mission to eradicate veteran homelessness across the country. Since then, the Foundation has helped over 15,000 veterans and their families through its Veteran Villages and National Case Management Network.
