Tunnel to Towers Foundation Pays off Mortgage for Fallen San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Detective

Mortgage payoff is part of Tunnel to Towers 4th annual Season of Hope

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is honored to announce it has paid, in full, the mortgage on the home of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Detective Armando Cantu Jr. as part of its 4th annual Season of Hope.

Tunnel to Towers’ Season of Hope, celebrates the holiday season by lifting the financial burden of a mortgage from the families of fallen first responders, Gold Star families, and catastrophically injured veterans around the country.

On November 18th, 2021, Detective Cantu Jr. passed away due to illness attributed to his law enforcement career.

Detective Cantu d enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately afterward graduating high school. He served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and served his country for eight years. Cantu joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in 2007 and continued to serve his community for 14 years. He was assigned to many different stations including the Narcotics Division where he worked in the DEA Task Force and the Marijuana Suppression Team. He leaves behind his wife Beta Ka’Shaun, and his son.

Tunnel to Towers has ensured they can stay in the home they shared forever.

“This holiday season, we honor those families who have sacrificed so much for all of us. To the families who are still grieving the recent loss of a loved one and to those who are enduring another year with an empty seat at the table, Tunnel to Towers is honored to celebrate your loved one’s service and ensure that you and your family can stay in your home forever,”  said Tunnel to Towers Chairman and CEO  Frank Siller.

By the end of the year, Tunnel to Towers will have delivered over 200 mortgage-free homes across the country to America’s heroes and their families.
