Tunnel to Towers Foundation Delivers Mortgage-Free Smart Home to Injured Veteran

Tunnel to Towers welcomes home United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Noah White into his brand new mortgage-free smart home on his birthday.

Lance Corporal White grew up in Bangor, Maine and joined the United States Marine Corps in 2019. In July 2019, pre-deployment, he was catastrophically injured in a training accident that left him quadriplegic with no movement or sensation from the neck down.

Despite his physical limitations, Lance Corporal White enjoys playing video games with an adaptive headset and using his wheelchair to explore his surroundings.

Present at the smart-home dedication are Lance Corporal White and his mom Shannon, Tunnel to Towers board member and retired FDNY Battalion Commander Jack Oehm, Tunnel to Towers board member Theresa Fisher, Bangor Fire Chief Thomas Higgins, Bangor Police Lieutenant Jason Stuart, Bangor City Councilor Cara Pelletier, local VIPS and supporters.

The layout of Lance Corporal White’s previous home made it impossible for him to complete daily tasks. His new life-changing smart home improves his quality of life and is helping him to reclaim his independence.

Lance Corporal White’s new smart home features automatic doors and wider hallways.

The home is also fitted with lights, thermostats, a security system and sound system that he can control via an app that is operated with an adaptive head mouse. This technology allows Lance Corporal White to turn on the lights in a room without help for the first time since his catastrophic injury.

Join us on our mission to provide life-changing smart homes to our nation’s catastrophically injured servicemembers and first responders by visiting T2T.org and donating just $11 per month.
