The Heroes Journey partners with Tunnel to Towers to Bring the Performance of “Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret” to Staten Island for One Night Only

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation had the distinct honor of bringing The Heroes Journey performance of Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret to Staten Island’s St. George Theater on Tuesday, April 9th.

Last Out was created by Veteran and Green Beret Scott Mann about the sacrifices made by the men and women in America’s armed forces and their families. It aims to spark a dialogue about the true cost of war.

“In the years after I separated from the military, I found it extremely hard to know my purpose and passion in life. I slowly disconnected from the outside world,” said Scott Mann, writer and producer of Last Out. “I also found many civilians had no idea what it meant to serve in modern war. It was only when I began telling my story that I finally started seeing light and hope. I wrote Last Out to educate civilians on the cost of Military service, so we never forget the price our veterans and their families pay for us. I also wrote it to help other veterans learn how to use their stories to heal and find purpose. We know that, especially after the Afghanistan collapse in 2021, Gold Star Families, Military Families, and Warfighters are hurting badly from the painful Afghan withdrawal. We hope this play will serve as an emotional breaching tool to open people up to the hard subject of modern war.”

In addition to performing Last Out nationwide, The Heroes Journey helps veterans, their families, and families of the fallen deal with loss, trauma, and grief through shared storytelling.

“We are honored to bring ‘Last Out’ to New York City, a powerful portrayal of the sacrifices and valor of our military service members and their families. This performance is not just a play; it’s a tribute to the unspoken heroes of our nation – the spouses, children, and comrades of those who serve,” said Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO, Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret was performed for one night only at the St. George Theatre on April 9th.
