United States Air Force Colonel • Line of Duty Death: May 12, 2020

United States Air Force Colonel Thomas George Falzarano unexpectedly passed away on May 12, 2020 while engaged in his regular morning exercise routine.

Growing up in the close-knit community of Saugus, Massachusetts, a vibrant suburb of Boston, Falzarano was the eldest of six siblings in a bustling, modest home. From a young age, he naturally took on the role of a leader, his infectious energy bringing his brothers together for spirited basketball games. The unwavering values instilled by his beloved grandmother and the tireless work ethic of his mother profoundly shaped his character. An enthusiastic athlete and a passionate fan of Larry Bird, Falzarano possessed a remarkable balance of spirited athleticism and quiet composure.

Inspired by the example of his cousin, Ray, a West Point alumnus, Falzarano felt a strong calling to serve his country. Despite an initial waitlisting, his perseverance paid off when he received an appointment to the US Air Force Academy. For 26 distinguished years, he dedicated himself to his military career, rising to the esteemed position of Wing Commander of the 21st Space Wing at Peterson AFB. A man of deep humility and unwavering commitment, Falzarano’s desire to protect and serve only intensified after the profound impact of 9/11.

Fate intervened on his very first day at Vandenberg AFB, where he met his future wife, Stacey, a civilian employee. Their connection was immediate and undeniable, leading to an impromptu first date at an Anaheim Angels game. They shared laughter and heartfelt conversations that stretched for six wonderful hours, and their love story began to blossom.

For Falzarano, his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his cherished family. He embraced fatherhood with immense love, welcoming two sons and opening his heart and home to three adopted children. He was the unwavering center of their lives, a source of boundless care and support for his family and all those around him.
Stacey currently resides in Florida, carrying forward Falzarano’s legacy of love and devotion. Stacey volunteers for the USO and Catholic Charities (thrift store). Her boys are involved in Cub Scouts, which keeps her involved as well. She actively participates in the local TAPS care group, highlighting her engagement in local community activities.

Beyond her immediate community, Stacey is deeply involved in initiatives centered around military survivor issues. She previously served as the US Space Force representative on the USAF Survivors Advocacy Council at the Pentagon. Stacey writes and publishes about military widowhood and navigating life afterward. She ensures her children participate in numerous military survivor activities designed to support bereaved children of Active Duty military personnel. Furthermore, she regularly raises awareness among military leadership regarding the needs of military survivors through formal briefings and LinkedIn.

United States Air Force Colonel Thomas George Falzarano is survived by his loving wife, Stacey, and their beautiful children, Trevor, Spencer, Michael, Thomas, and Valentina.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has provided the Falzarano family with a mortgage-free home in the Let Us Do Good Village through the Gold Star Family Home Program.
