U.S. Army Master Sergeant
LODD: January 14, 2020

On January 14, 2020, Master Sergeant Nathan Goodman, a Green Beret who served over seventeen years in the military, lost his life during a military free-fall training exercise in Arizona.

MSG Goodman enlisted in the Army as a teen not long after the 9/11 attacks and transferred to the Army National Guard in 2005. He attended Special Forces Assessment and Selection, graduating in October 2007 as an engineer sergeant. He returned to active duty in 2010.

At the time of his death, MSG Goodman was serving with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group as an Operations Team Sergeant for a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha.  MSG Goodman, who was just 36 years of age, deployed eight times — four to Afghanistan, once to Iraq, twice to Africa and once to Kyrgyzstan.

MSG Goodman is survived by his wife, Kelly, and their two children. Tunnel to Towers Foundation will present the Goodman family with a mortgage-free home in North Carolina as part of its Veterans Day initiative.
