Line of Duty Death: November 13, 2013

United States Marine Corps Sergeant Miguel Ortiz, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, was one of four EOD Technicians killed on November 13th, 2013 during a range sweep of unexploded ordnances at Camp Pendleton, California.

Ortiz was born and raised in southern California alongside his two sisters. He joined the Marine Corps in April of 2006. In 2011 he graduated from Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal. Throughout his years of service Ortiz was given numerous awards including but not limited to, the Combat Action Ribbon, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Korean Defense Service Medal.

Sergeant Miguel Ortiz is survived by his wife Susie, and their three children Isabel, Andrew and Miguel Jr.
