United States Army Sergeant • Line of Duty Death: February 20, 2008

United States Army Sergeant Conrad Alvarez passed away on February 20, 2008 while deployed in Iraq.

Alvarez was born and raised in Sweetwater, Texas. He also spent part of his childhood in Roscoe, Texas. He graduated high school in 2004 and enlisted in the US Army one year later, serving with the 1/502nd, 2nd Brigade combat team, 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He and his wife, Maira, who also served in the US Army, were married in 2007. Alvarez had two daughters and one son. Throughout his honorable career, Alvarez was awarded with an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, and Soldier’s Medal, among others. While deployed on his second tour in Iraq, he was killed in action by an IED explosion along with two other soldiers. He was 22 years old.

United States Army Sergeant Conrad Alvarez is survived by his loving wife, Maira, and three children.
