Jacksonville Fire Captain Thomas Michael Barber died in the line of duty on June 14, 2021, from cardiac arrest.
Barber, 51, had responded to a medical call at a residence the previous day. Early the following day, he went into cardiac arrest at home and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away shortly after arrival.
Barber is survived by his wife, Malissa, and his three children.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage on the Barber family’s home as part of its 2021 Season of Hope initiative.
