California Riverside Fire Department • Line of Duty Death: February 28, 2019

California Riverside Fire Department firefighter Steven Casados died on February 28, 2019 after battling job-related cancer. He was 36 years of age at the time of his death.

Casados began volunteering for CAL FIRE in 2000, and rose through the ranks becoming a permanent Firefighter I & II. During a career that spanned 16 years, Casados worked in Battalions 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, and 11, reaching the rank of Fire Apparatus Engineer. His illness forced him to retire in 2018.

Casados is survived by his wife, Veronica, and their two children.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage held on the Casados family’s home.
