Scott Conley

Detective Scott Conley of the Chelsea Police Department in Massachusetts suffered cardiac arrest on March 15, 2024, after a lengthy battle with an occupational related illness. He had served in law enforcement for 27 years and was 52 years old.  

Conley was one of four boys, growing up in Chelsea, Massachusetts with parents, Edward and Joan. He graduated from Chelsea High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and two master’s degrees focused on criminology. Both he and his older brother, Ed, joined the U.S. Army and later went into law enforcement. During his military career, Conley rose in rank to Special Operations Operator and was an Army Ranger with the 1st Battalion/75th Ranger Regiment in Georgia. His father was Deputy Fire Chief for the Chelsea, Massachusetts, Fire Department, which influenced Conley to become a first responder. 

For 27 years, Conley was a member of the Chelsea Police Department, serving as a detective. He was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division and the department’s first critical response team. He had specialized training in tactical and urban operations with a focus on gang operations. He was assigned as a Task Force Officer with the FBI’s Violent Gang Task Force, operating out of the Boston Field Office, where he helped dismantle the violent MS-13 gang. He testified in front of Congress. He was active in his Topsfield community and the Tri-Town area, coaching youth football and baseball. 

Conley met his future wife, Elaine, at a restaurant near Fenway Park in Boston. They were married for almost 24 years and had four children together: twins Aidan and Max, Keira and Shea. He cherished his role as a father. He was their coach, mentor and biggest cheerleader in all of life’s endeavors. He was a travel enthusiast, providing his family with unforgettable experiences and cherished memories. His larger-than-life personality and captivating tales left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Conley was cherished and adored by many. He proudly served his country and his community. His loving wife, Elaine, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2023 and passed away suddenly on October 26, 2024, just seven months after her husband’s death. His mother, Joan, passed away on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026. 

Detective Scott Conley is survived by his father, Edward, his children, Aidan, Max, Keira and Shea, his brothers, Ed, Sean, and Eric, and many other loving family members and friends. His sister-in-law, Diane Fucci, is now the guardian of the Conleys’ youngest children. 

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage on the Conley family home through the Fallen First Responder Home Program.
