Georgia State Trooper • Line of Duty Death: September 8, 2022
On September 8th 2022, Trooper Cadet Patrick Donelle Dupree tragically lost his life after collapsing during a vigorous weapons retention course. Dupree was just 36 years old and served in law enforcement for 8 years.
Raised by his mother Scledia and his father Eric, Dupree had a deep passion to pursue a career in law enforcement ever since he was a child. Growing up he enjoyed playing football, and took interests in motorcycling, drawing and playing the drums as he became older.
Dupree served with the Cave Spring Police Department and the Euharlee Police Department for six years. However, Dupree’s main goal was to become a Georgia State Trooper, fueling his motivation to join the 113th Trooper school. Serving in the police department reminded Dupree of his time playing football, similarly working as a team with his fellow officers to protect their community. Dupree loved his job and famously said just one month before passing, “If I go out, I want to go out doing what I love.” After serving as a Trooper for a few years, his end goal was to be in law enforcement aviation.
Dupree is remembered as a compassionate husband to his wife, Shanna and a loving father to his three children. He was a true family man who was known for being honorable, motivational and inspirational. Dupree would stop at nothing to ensure the safety and protection of his family, friends and community that he loved so dearly.
Trooper Cadet Patrick Donnell Dupree is survived by his mother, father, wife, daughter, and two sons.
