Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, Maryland ● Line of Duty Death: July 23rd, 2018

Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services firefighter Nathan “Nate” Flynn died in the line of duty July 23 rd , 2018. While operating at a house fire in Clarksville, MD, Flynn fell through the floor and became trapped in the basement. Flynn was a thirteen year veteran of the department, where he was a member of the Special Operations Team assigned to Station 10. Flynn was posthumously promoted to Lieutenant.

Flynn was known by his colleagues as a firefighter committed to advancing his skills and encouraging others to do the same. Flynn collaborated with other firefighters to create real-world conditions training and volunteered with the Susquehanna Hose Company and Harford County Technical Rescue Teams.

Flynn spent his free time improving and renovating his home and spending time with his family. He is remembered by his friends and family for his selfless service and caring nature, always putting the well being of others before himself. Firefighter Nathan Flynn is survived by his wife, Celeste, and their five children.
