Deputy Sheriff Marcus Zeigler of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio suffered a medical emergency while participating in mandatory running activities at Great Oaks Police Academy. Despite medical efforts, he passed away on May 26, 2023. He had been with the Sheriff’s Office for nine months and was only 36 years old. He was proud to be a deputy and looked forward to living his dream, climbing the ranks and serving his community.
Zeigler was born in Montgomery, Alabama. His father, Amos, passed away when he was young so he was raised by his mother, Regina, along with his younger brother, Sean. He had a fun and loving childhood and especially loved football. He graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there that he met and later married his wife, Cassaundra. They were high school sweethearts. They were blessed with five children, Dominique, Marcus Jr., Gionnie, Dutchess and Aziah. He had a passion for taking family photos that now will become precious memories for years to come. Zeigler and Cassaundra were partners in life and in business. They owned and operated the Zeigler Family Daycare and a firearms training business. Zeigler taught concealed carry classes to members of the community. He received the Major Earl E. Price leadership award, of which he was very proud. He loved his family and was a great father, husband, son and brother. He cherished his aunts, uncles, cousins and all of his family members, including his brothers and sisters in law enforcement.
Deputy Sheriff Marcus Zeigler is survived by his loving wife, Cassaundra, five children, his mother, Regina, brother, Sean, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, god-children and many others who will forever cherish his memory.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage of the Zeigler family home through the Fallen First Responder Home Program.
