Corpus Christi Police Department, Texas • Line of Duty Death: April 24, 2024

On April 24, 2024, Corpus Christi Police Officer Kyle Hicks passed away due to fatal gunshot wounds sustained while responding to a call of shots fired on the morning of April 20.

Hicks was born in Everett, Washington before his family relocated to Texas when he was 12 years old. Hicks met his wife, Cassie, while working at Chik-Fil-A and the high school sweethearts were married in 2014 in his parents’ backyard. They welcomed four children into the world, whom Hicks loved more than anything and of whom he was incredibly proud.

After his tenure with Chik-Fil-A, where he quickly achieved the role of General Manager, he began his journey in achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. Hicks graduated from the police academy in January 2023 and joined the Corpus Christi Police Department. Hicks took great pride in protecting his community; his final act of service was the donation of his organs, giving others a second chance at life.

Hicks is remembered by those who know and love him as compassionate and honest, and as a man of great integrity. He loved music, having played many instruments and spent many nights singing to his children.

Corpus Christi Police Officer Kyle Hicks is survived by his wife, Cassie, and four children; Rilee, Cayde, Amelia and Tucker.
