NYPD Inspector Justin Lenz died in the line of duty on June 18, 2020, due to complications from 9/11 related illness.
Lenz joined the police force in 1990. Most recently, he was the commanding officer of the NYPD’s Office of Professional Development.
Lenz was also a former U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major of the 42nd Infantry Division and had served in the Iraq War in 2003.
NYPD Inspector Justin Lenz is survived by his wife, Rita, and his two children.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage on the Lenz family’s home as part of its 2021 Season of Hope initiative.
