George County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi • Line of Duty Death: January 4, 2024

Deputy Jeremy Malone of the George County Sheriff’s Department in Mississippi was shot and killed on January 4, 2024. He was conducting a traffic stop on the highway when he was shot multiple times and died at the scene. He was 44 years old.

Malone was born in Richton, Mississippi, and grew up in Beaumont. He was raised by his mother, Sherrye, and his aunt and uncle, along with his brothers, Jason and Scott. Malone played sports and was a graduate of Perry Central High School. He had an Uncle in law enforcement and he knew from an early age that he wanted to be a police officer. He began his career in 1999, graduating from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2002.

Malone worked with the Leakesville Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the Biloxi Police Department and then the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. He was described as very likeable, very honorable and very professional by his fellow officers. Law enforcement was his passion. He loved the adrenaline and helping people of the community. He volunteered for many projects, such as Santa Wears a Badge and the Blue Line Toy Drive.

Malone met his wife, Hilary, online and they were married five months later. They had three daughters, Alivia, Brooklyn and Abigayle. His wife and his girls were his greatest joy. He was devoted to them and loved spending time with them. He was a selfless and caring person who will be truly missed by family, friends and his Brothers in Blue.

Deputy Jeremy Malone is survived by his wife, Hilary, daughters, Alivia, Brooklyn and Abigayle, his mother, Sherrye, his brothers, Jason and Scott, and numerous family members.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage of the Malone family home through the Fallen First Responder Home program.
