Orange Rural Fire Department, North Carolina ● Line of Duty Death: August 13, 2018

Orange Rural Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeffrey Newton Holden died in the line of duty at his central station on August 13, 2018, after helping to rescue a construction worker trapped in a trench.

Holden, 32, served with the Orange Rural Fire Department for over 15 years, where he served as an instructor for confined space rescue, swift water rescue, rope rescue, and hazardous materials.

Holden is survived by his wife, Christa, and his infant son.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage on the Holden family’s home as part of its 2021 Season of Hope initiative.
