Colorado State Patrol, Colorado • Line of Duty Death: November 15, 2015

State Trooper Jaimie Jursevics was struck and killed by a drunk driver on November 15, 2015. She stopped her patrol car a few hundred yards from another Trooper that was working a crash to alert traffic. She was attempting to flag down the drunk driver that was called in as a possible DUI. Ultimately, she was struck and she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. She was 33 years old and served with the Colorado State Patrol in Castle Rock for just under five years.

Jursevics was born in Burke, South Dakota, and raised in Rapid City. She grew up in a large family and was the older sister to three siblings. She attended Dakota Middle School and Rapid City Central High School. Being there for her family, including her parents and grandparents, was always her priority. She relocated to the Denver, Colorado area when she was in her early twenties.

Jursevics had a strong desire to help others, and that eventually progressed into her choosing a law enforcement career, starting as a 911 emergency dispatcher. This experience motivated her to pursue her dream of becoming a State Trooper. She joined the Colorado State Patrol in 2011. She excelled quickly in her career, earning the respect of her team. She took tremendous pride in doing her job, spending the majority of her time working in the mountains out of the Vail, Colorado, office. This was one of the most challenging areas in the state. She was known for being dedicated, driven, and great to work with. She was a certified Field Training Officer and had taken advanced accident reconstruction training. She received multiple service awards and commendations, including a Lifesaving Award, during her career.

Jursevics met her future husband, Didzis (DJ), on a blind date at a Christmas party. They married in San Diego, California, at a small, special ceremony held at a beautiful estate, surrounded by friends and family. In 2015, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Morgan, who was only eight months old when her mother was killed. Jursevics leaves a legacy of being an amazing mother, wife, friend, and a dedicated, selfless person committed to helping others. A memorial scholarship has been established in her memory to benefit her fellow CSP Troopers and their families, with upwards of $100,000 distributed thus far.

Colorado State Trooper Jaimie Jursevics is survived by her loving husband, DJ, her cherished daughter, Morgan Lynn, her mother and stepfather, Jolene and Joe Torres, her siblings, and many other loving family members and friends.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage on the Jursevics family home through the Fallen First Responder Home Program.Â
