Norfolk Fire-Rescue, Virginia • Line of Duty Death: October 1, 2021

On October 1st, 2021 Firefighter Christopher G. Griffin passed away after 15 months of battling with job-related Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.

Griffin was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Scranton Tech High School. After he completed highschool Griffin worked at the Chinchilla Hose Company of South Abington Township where he served as Fire Chief. During this time he was also the Superintendent for South Abington Township. He resided in Pennsylvania for 37 years before moving to Virginia in 2008 where he began a new chapter in his life.

Upon his move to Virginia, Griffin began working with Norfolk Fire-Rescue in Norfolk, Virginia as a career firefighter to continue his passion. He loved helping people and being able to give back to his community. Griffin spent almost 10 years working for Norfolk Fire-Rescue, serving at numerous stations over the course of his exemplary career.

Firefighter Christopher G. Griffin is survived by his wife, Aimee, and their son, David, who was the light in Chris’s life.
