A family’s life was changed forever today after it received a mortgage-free home from an organization that honors the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. The Mendez-Hernandez family has moved around nearly a dozen times after losing a loved one. Norberto Mendez-Hernandez was a Marine who died at age 22 while serving in Afghanistan in 2011. He was a father and husband, leaving behind his wife, son and newborn daughter.
