Industry Borough Police Department Police Officer Scott A. Morrison was born and raised in North Braddock, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he lived a very difficult young life. Tasked with working to support his family beginning in his teenage years, he shouldered great responsibility for someone so young. Although his schedule was extremely busy, Morrison occasionally managed to find some free time to play golf and street hockey. A significant interest in public safety, specifically police work and firefighting, led to time spent with the local fire department where he found some very good role models who made a significant impact on his life. Additionally, Morrison feels great appreciation for his 2nd Grade Teacher, Al Senic, who lived at the end of the block and was a huge stand in father figure and lifelong friend to this day.
Seeing limited opportunities in his hometown, and recognizing all that the Army had to offer, Morrison enlisted in 1989, serving in the field of Aviation and rising to the rank of Corporal. Following Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, Morrison served with Q-Troop, 4/11th ACR at Sickels Army Airfield, Fulda Germany (1990-1992) and C-Troop 3/1 Cav, Ft. Polk, LA (1992). He enjoyed being part of the process of a large mechanism and ensuring that everything functioned efficiently and effectively. Additionally, he took pride in knowing that his pilots had great faith in flying in his aircraft, confident that they would be safe. During the course of his Army service, Morrison was struck by lightning via ground current, causing a herniated disc and permanent nerve damage.
Driven by a deep sense of duty after the events of 9/11, Morrison entered law enforcement in 2002. He served with multiple police departments in his region, including Ambridge Borough, Baden Borough, Marion Township, Ohioville, and Industry Borough. Over the years, he served as a Patrol Officer, Traffic Enforcement Officer, Crime Scene Photographer, and Narcotics Interdiction Specialist. He loved the job, especially being proactive on patrol.
While serving with Ambridge Borough Police, Morrison broke his right ankle during a struggle with an impaired driver. The injury was misdiagnosed for 18 months, during which he continued working 12‑hour shifts without missing a day. By the time proper imaging was done, the ankle had deteriorated into “fine grains of sand.” He underwent more than a dozen surgeries, developed permanent nerve damage, required multiple ankle fusions, and suffered additional knee and lower‑back injuries from altered gait. Prolonged non‑weight‑bearing also caused a severe right‑wrist injury that required reconstruction.
On November 4, 2021, Morrison was rear‑ended at full highway speed while stopped in traffic. The crash caused a Level‑5 concussion, neck and spinal injuries, herniated discs, pinched nerves, and major damage to his right arm, along with further injuries to his lower back and left wrist. His recovery has been long, painful, and debilitating, yet he pushes on with the same grit and resolve that defined his life.
Today, Morrison resides with his three rescued purebred dogs who are a huge part of his life. His many hobbies include teaching himself how to play the guitar, 3D printing and design, 3D laser cutting and engraving, designing and building drones, self-learning electronics, LED’s, woodworking, metal detecting and golf.
The support from Tunnel to Towers means everything to Morrison. He is extremely grateful to have a secure future in a home adapted to his specific needs and to be free from the financial burden of a mortgage. The idea of finally living without fear of what tomorrow may bring feels life‑changing to him, and he struggles to put into words the depth of his gratitude and respect.
Industry Borough Police Department Police Officer Scott A. Morrison has fought and overcome many challenges and tragedies in his life. A lesson that he would like to impart to others is that everyone’s struggles are real, and that perseverance can overcome even the hardest obstacles.
