United States Navy Electronics Technician Senior Chief Keith James Ingraham passed away on July 6, 2025, due to service-connected brain cancer.
Ingraham was raised in Upstate New York, primarily in the Ithaca and Binghamton areas, and graduated from Vestal High School. During his teenage years, he and his best friend aspired to serve in the United States Marine Corps; however, when Ingraham was not eligible for the occupational specialty he hoped to pursue, he chose to postpone enlistment. In 2000, Ingraham enlisted in the United States Navy alongside his two younger brothers, driven by a strong sense of patriotism and a desire to build a stable and meaningful career.
From the moment Ingraham began his career at Little Creek base, he demonstrated exceptional reliability and professional competence. He earned the trust of his commanding officers and colleagues. Ingraham was committed to assisting others when needed, mentoring junior personnel, and prioritizing the welfare of everyone with whom he served. Rank and status were secondary considerations; the principal focus consistently remained on the mission and the individuals involved. Throughout his career, he also dedicated time to volunteer work within the communities where he resided and was stationed. Ingraham was awarded numerous honors throughout his service, including the Combat Action Ribbon with Valor and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. These distinctions reflect his courage, dedication, and commitment both in service and to his community.
Ingraham met his wife, Katherine, while they were both employed at Sony Theaters in Vestal, New York. Their relationship began as a close friendship before evolving into a beautiful partnership. They shared 27 years together, with 25 years of marriage, marked by a deep commitment and love. Their life was characterized by adventure, and they valued every moment they shared. They loved to travel and spend time in nature. Together, they enjoyed visiting historical sites and motorcycle riding at every opportunity. Ingraham and Katherine are the proud parents of two exceptional daughters, Calla and Laelia. Above all, Ingraham considered his daughters his greatest accomplishment.
Senior Chief Ingraham’s steady leadership, generosity of spirit, and devotion to others left an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy endures through his daughters, the sailors he mentored, and the communities he served. He motivated individuals to strive for excellence, to improve each day, and to seek spiritual guidance in all circumstances. His personal philosophy was encapsulated in the mantra: prayers, plants, and PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). This emphasized the importance of prayer, the health benefits of plants, and maintaining a positive outlook in every situation. Ingraham was characterized by his sincerity and honesty; his integrity was paramount. He consistently exemplified the counsel he offered to others. He demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to upholding the right course of action, both for himself and others. Throughout his battle with cancer, his spirit never wavered. Driven by his love for his wife and daughters, he faced his diagnosis with unwavering determination.
Katherine and their children honor Ingraham daily by sharing his memory and character with those who did not have the opportunity to meet him. They endeavor to live by his principles and actions and carry his love with them.
