HOME COMPLETED - MAY 2026

Army Sergeant Steven Ragans was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, where he grew up surrounded by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. An active and energetic kid, he spent much of his childhood on the baseball and football fields, developing a lifelong love of sports that he now enjoys sharing with his own children as he watches them compete in basketball, hockey, and football. Ragans has always felt at home outdoors, whether it was hunting with his dad or doing just about anything on the water.

From a young age, Ragans knew that he wanted to protect and serve for a greater cause, and he sought to be part of a team united by shared values and a mission greater than any one individual. In April 2014, he fulfilled that calling by joining the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst. Throughout his service, he found deep pride in the Army family and in serving alongside people who had the same passion about the nation and its freedoms as he did. His dedication earned him multiple honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals. During training, Ragans sustained a bilateral fracture of his L5, an injury that would change the trajectory of his life. Despite the challenges and setbacks that followed, he considers serving in the United States Army one of his greatest honors and would choose the same path again without hesitation. Ragans now serves the community as an educator in Pasco County.

A life‑changing call from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation provided Ragans and his family with stability and the opportunity to refocus on what matters most. It also opened the door for him to think more deeply about how they can give back. Through every chapter—service, injury, family, and resilience—Army Sergeant Steven Ragans remains grounded in gratitude, purpose, and the unwavering belief in serving something greater than himself.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has provided Army Sergeant Steven Ragans with a mortgage-free smart home in the Let Us Do Good Village through the Smart Home Program.
