United States Army Major • Line of Duty Death: December 9, 2024

United States Army Major Alexander Ryan Wingate lost his life December 9, 2024, in a motor vehicle accident.

A devoted family man, Wingate lived a life full of purpose, adventure, and a deep love for all those around him. After graduation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Wingate was commissioned into the Army in 2010. He spent three years as an Infantry officer before being selected for Psychological Operations, where he proudly served for eleven years. His career was defined by his commitment to others, his generosity, and his ability to inspire those around him.

Wingate’s commitment and service to others was most evident in his absolute devotion to his family. He loved and cherished his wife and four young children deeply, and his life revolved around them. Whether coaching kids’ soccer, battling it out in airsoft games, or diving into his beloved Warhammer (where he’d spend hours painting and strategizing), his family was at the center of everything he did. Wingate excelled at making the people around him feel seen, supported, and appreciated.

A die-hard Arizona Cardinals fan and a proud supporter of Ohio State football. Soccer was his lifelong sport, and he both played and coached it. His love for sports, especially team sports, ran deep, and he always believed in the power of teamwork and camaraderie.

What made Wingate truly stand out was his positive impact on others. His energy was infectious, and he had a way of making everyone feel like they mattered. Whether in his personal life or professional career, he never stopped trying to make the world a little better. He will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to have known him.
