Nebraska Department of Corrections, Nebraska • Line of Duty Death: August 17, 2021

Corrections Corporal Kolby Baber died on August 17, 2021 from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.

Baber was born and raised in a small town in Nebraska. He grew up playing football, baseball, track, and driving country roads with his friends. Baber began his career at the Nebraska State Penitentiary, coincidentally where he met his amazing wife, Kelani.

In 2012, Baber decided to begin his career with the Nebraska State Penitentiary and then transferred to Community Corrections in 2020. He began working as an officer and was swiftly promoted to corporal because he was always willing to go above and beyond, whether it be working extra shifts when needed, or anything else.

Corrections Corporal Kolby Baber is survived by his wife, Kelani, and their daughter, Kenley.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has provided the Baber family with a mortgage-free home through the Fallen First Responder Home Program.
