United States Marine Corps Major Tobin Josiah Lewis tragically passed away on August 27, 2023, during an aircraft training exercise in Australia. 

Lewis was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado, the youngest of three children. From an early age, he developed a passion for aviation, inspired by his grandfather—a retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel and aviator. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Lewis joined the Marine Corps, where he became a dedicated officer, leader, and mentor to dozens of young pilots. Known for setting high standards while remaining approachable, Lewis was always willing to thoroughly teach and explain techniques. His unwavering patience and wholehearted commitment to the success of others left a lasting impact on all those he trained and led.

In 2010, Lewis met his future wife, Meredith, after matching on eHarmony, and they quickly bonded over their shared faith and passion for living with purpose. Meredith treasures countless memories with Lewis, but what she cherishes most are the small, simple routines they shared as true teammates. They grew side by side, and their greatest and most fulfilling adventure was becoming parents to their three beautiful children.

Lewis’ greatest legacy is his sincere faith, his humility, and a presence that inspired others to follow. He was kind and selfless, with a deep love for both the Marine Corps and flying. Above all, Lewis lived a life fully surrendered to Jesus Christ. Meredith is confident that Lewis was called and equipped for every flight he flew, and that the Lord used his skills to safeguard the Marines who entrusted their lives to him. He fulfilled his duty faithfully, all the way to the end. Today, Meredith and their children honor his memory by living each day with the steadfast assurance that they will be reunited with him in the presence of God.

United States Marine Corps Major Tobin Josiah Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Meredith, and their three beautiful children, Lydia, Nora, and Eliana.
