Tampa Police Department Master Police Officer Christopher LaFramboise patterned his life around one driving goal: fulfilling his childhood dream of becoming a police officer. Born and raised in Tampa Florida, LaFramboise shared a close, supportive relationship with his parents and sister, enjoying family vacations, playing sports, and working on cars. That foundation of love and encouragement shaped the values he carried into his professional life.
Over the course of 29 years, LaFramboise dedicated himself to protecting his community—first with 13 years at the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and then 16 more with the Tampa Police Department. His service spanned a wide range of roles within both agencies, including Patrol, Street Anti-Crimes, Training and Field Training Units, and the Real-Time Crime Center. He served as a DARE Officer, First-Line Supervisor, and member of the Underwater Recovery Team as well as the marine and aviation unit.
LaFramboise’s true passion lay in undercover work. As a Narcotics Detective and a crisis negotiator on the Hostage & Negotiation Team—where he maintained a perfect success rate—he thrived. He felt especially called to support veterans, active-duty military, and fellow first responders navigating moments of personal crisis. His tireless work on major drug trafficking cases as well as collaborating with the FBI as a negotiator , demonstrated both skill and compassion in action.
On August 15, 2022, while on duty, LaFramboise experienced a life-altering stroke. Within a month, he suffered two more. The aftermath left him facing significant challenges: cognitive and processing difficulties, short-term memory loss, and issues with gait and mobility. His journey has required ongoing occupational, physical, and speech therapy—as well as daily focus on mental wellness.
The support from Tunnel to Towers has been a beacon of hope for LaFramboise and his family, allowing them to focus on healing, free from the stress of financial burdens. Embracing a deep understanding of life’s fragility, he prioritizes spending time with his wife- his unwavering source of strength- and their three amazing sons.Â
