Tyler eventually married his wife, Ashley, the pair beginning their beautiful life together.

Having come from a long line of servicemen, Tyler was a fourth-generation firefighter. In 2007, Tyler began his career with the Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division. Additionally, Tyler was active in his community, having been a member of Tiffin Firefighters Local 322 and was involved in the Responder Exposure Assistance and Care Team program. In 2019, Tyler medically-retired from his career after sadly being diagnosed with a service-related cancer. During his retirement, he volunteer-coached in the Norwalk Buckeye Youth Football Conference, was involved in his children’s school, and volunteered at the Norwalk-area food bank. After a three-year battle with cancer, Tyler tragically succumbed to his illness.
