St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1, Louisiana • Line of Duty Death: February 23, 2023

St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 Fire Prevention Officer Taylor E. Bass passed away on February 23, 2023 after suffering a medical emergency in his home.

Bass was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Long Beach, Mississippi. Bass was described as an All-American boy who loved spending time with his family and friends and was active in his church and youth group. While in high school, he was active in football and later became an equipment manager for the LSU football team. Bass met his wife, Angela, in 2010 and the pair were married in April of 2013.

After university, Bass felt that a career in Fire service aligned more with his values and desire to serve others. He attended the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy in Minden, Louisiana, and began serving Slidell, LA as a firefighter with St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 in November 2011. Bass felt the most fulfilling part about being a firefighter initially was that allowed him to help people and serve his community. More importantly, the flexibility allowed him to spend more time with his two children.

Angela and her children currently reside in their newly constructed home in Louisiana. She enjoys raising her children, gardening, running, and reading. Angela is active in her community, volunteering at various church events, and has recently taken a step back from her role as a Kindergarten teacher so she can be more available to her children. Angela is overwhelmed by the support from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and is now able to live without the financial stress of a mortgage as well as focus more of her attention on her children’s pursuits.

St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 Fire Prevention Officer Taylor E. Bass is survived by his wife, Angela, and his two children.
