Howard Lake Fire Department, Minnesota • Line of Duty Death: January 13th, 2020
On January 13th, 2020 Chief Daryl “Taddy” Drusch passed away in his home after suffering a heart attack just hours after a call.
Drusch joined as a volunteer firefighter in March of 1991 which began his 30 year career with the Howard Lake Fire Department and Ambulance. Drusch demonstrated a profound passion for helping others and showed great dedication to the department throughout the years he served. Drusch served in many different roles in the fire department including training officer, assistant chief, and as Chief from 2014 onward.
In his spare time, Drusch enjoyed coaching his son, Taylor, whether it be in sports or life. He also loved going fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, camping, and playing cards with his loved ones. Taddy had the biggest heart and was not afraid to share it with anyone who needed it. He also had the gift of gab and would take the time to get to know you, he loved meeting new people. When he wasn’t working or on fire/ambulance calls he spent all of his free time with Julie and Taylor making memories and loving life.
Chief Daryl “Taddy” Drusch is survived by his wife, Julie, and their son, Taylor.
