Following the brutal assassinations of five Dallas officers in July, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, established in honor of a fallen 9/11 firefighter, vowed to raise money to help take care of the needs–especially the housing needs–of the officers’ widows and affected families.
Representatives of Tunnel to Towers, accompanied by the widows of two slain NYC officers–NYPD Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos–journeyed to Dallas to offer their condolences and support.
Now, as a result of the Tunnel to Towers’ fundraising initiative, the organization is once again journeying to the Dallas Police Association Office to officially present the legal documents that signify the mortgages on the homes of Michael Smith and Brent Thompson have been paid off by Tunnel to Towers.
In addition, Tunnel to Towers is continuing to work with the family of Police Officer Patrick Zamarripa, and the families of officers Lorne Aherns and Michael Krol each have received $100,000 from Tunnel to Towers because there were no housing needs in either instance.Â
