Jonathan David Rozier

On July 19th, 2003, United States Army First Lieutenant Jonathan David Rozier sustained fatal injuries due to hostile fire in Baghdad, Iraq.

Rozier, of Katy, Texas, was born in Dallas, Texas and stayed within the state throughout the majority of his life. He was an intelligent, inquisitive child who was involved in several sports and also learned to play the trombone and trumpet. In high school, Rozier was also an assistant “instructor” for an elementary age class of homeschooled students in a co-op program, building leadership skills which would be a great asset to him later in life during his military career.

Rozier attended Texas A&M University, where he met the woman who would later become his wife as a cadet in the ROTC program, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and was commissioned into the Army shortly after.

During his time of service Rozier was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, of the 1st Armored Division, deployed from Fort Riley, Kansas. Rozier was promoted to 1st Lieutenant just one month before his passing. He received two purple hearts and the Meritorious Service Medal for his time in the military, as well as a Bronze Star for Valor (BSV) and a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster (BSM) for his actions in the Battle of South Al Hillah, where he exhibited immense heroism and bravery in the face of enemy fire upon his platoon.

U.S. Army First Lieutenant Jonathan David Rozier is survived by his wife, Jessica, and his son Justin.
