REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY
The mission of our Gold Star Family Home Program is to support young families of our military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Since September 11, 2001, thousands of service members have been killed serving our country, leaving countless Gold Star families in need.
Applicants for the Gold Star Family Home Program must meet these fundamental eligibility requirements:
- Scenario 1: The US service member was killed in action in a combat zone or during authorized training, leaving behind at least one surviving biological or legally adopted child, 16 years of age or younger at the time of passing.
- Scenario 2: The US service member’s death was caused by a department verified, service connected toxic (burn pit, nuclear) exposure, leaving behind at least one surviving biological or legally adopted child, 21 years of age or younger at the time of passing.
- At the time of death, the service member and the surviving parent (spouse) must not have been divorced.
- The surviving parent of the service member’s child (children) is not currently remarried, engaged, or cohabitating.
Priority is given to applicants whose nuclear family with the fallen service member has remained unchanged since the time of death.
