Tunnel to Towers Foundation Breaks Ground on Property to Combat Veteran Homelessness in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA [October 29, 2024] — The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting America’s First Responders, Gold Star families, and Injured Military Veterans, has committed to eradicating veteran homelessness nationwide.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM, Tunnel to Towers and local officials hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for its new Veterans Village in North Charleston.

The Foundation acquired a former hotel at 2450 Prospect Drive to renovate and build new apartment housing for homeless veterans.

Once completed, the property will house 98 veterans and feature on-site support services. This will include job training, benefits assistance, education assistance, financial budget management, legal advocacy, medical care access, mental health support and PTSD counseling, and addiction treatment.

Since its launch in 2022, the Tunnel to Towers Homeless Veteran Program has provided housing assistance and services to more than 6,500 veterans.

The Foundation’s Homeless Veteran Program currently provides housing to Veterans in Houston, TX, Riverside, CA, West Los Angeles, CA, Austin, TX, and Phoenix, AZ.

Tunnel to Towers is building housing for Veterans in twenty other cities including Memphis, TN, Atlanta, GA, Bradenton, FL, Denver, CO, Buffalo, NY, and Harrisburg, PA.

Tunnel to Towers continues to support America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
