The Tunnel to Towers Foundation to Break Ground on Veterans Village in Harrisburg
Ceremony set for Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m.
HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA [April 10, 2025] – The Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T), a non-profit that supports America’s first responders, Gold Star families, and military veterans, is bringing its mission to eradicate Veteran Homelessness to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10 at the Veterans Village property, 1109 South Front Street, Harrisburg.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is constructing a 64-unit apartment complex and 20 one-bedroom “comfort homes” on the former Phoenix Steel Mill site, just south of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Building.
Once completed, the Veterans Village will house more than 80 veterans in need of permanent housing. The complex will also feature on-site supportive services, such as job training, benefits assistance, mental health support, and addiction treatment to break the cycle of homelessness.
Tunnel to Towers believes that no veteran who volunteered to serve our country should be left struggling on the streets they once helped to defend.
In 2022, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation launched its Homeless Veteran Program with the ambitious mission to eradicate Veteran homelessness nationwide, and has provided housing assistance and services to more than 10,000 veterans to date. In addition to Harrisburg, T2T has built and is planning to build and operate Veterans Villages in Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; Memphis, TN; Buffalo, NY; Bradenton, FL; Las Vegas, NV; Charleston, SC; Detroit, MI; Denver, CO, among many other places.
Tunnel to Towers continues its mission to support America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children, and building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. By the end of this year, Tunnel to Towers will deliver 200 mortgage-free homes to these heroes and the families they left behind.
