HOME COMPLETED - NOVEMBER 2025

United States Army Sergeant William Stalnecker was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed a vibrant and supportive upbringing alongside his three sisters. His parents provided a nurturing environment filled with family vacations, sports, and strong values. From an early age, Stalnecker developed a passion for music and ice hockey—interests that continue to bring him joy today.

He met his wife, Tina, through mutual friends, and their bond has endured for decades. Stalnecker had long aspired to serve in the military, a dream he fulfilled when he enlisted in the United States Army in 2007. He was assigned to B Company, 1-67 AR, 4th Infantry Division, where he served as a Combat Medic. His dedication to helping fellow soldiers and his deep appreciation for the camaraderie and brotherhood of military life defined his service.

During one harrowing mission, Stalnecker and two teammates sprinted across a field riddled with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to reach a wounded soldier who had triggered one. For his bravery, he was awarded the Combat Medical Badge (CMB).

Later in his deployment, Stalnecker sustained an injury to his right foot. The wound developed into osteomyelitis, a severe bone infection, ultimately leading to the amputation of his right leg above the knee. His recovery has been long and challenging, yet he continues to persevere with resilience and determination.

Today, Stalnecker leads a fulfilling life surrounded by his loving family. He enjoys watching movies, playing hockey, and spending quality time with Tina, their four children—Kierstyn, Robert, Nicholas, and Christopher—and their grandson, Dominic. He credits his family as the cornerstone of his strength and the reason he is alive today. As he humbly puts it, “I’m just a former soldier who wants to live a normal life.”

United States Army Sergeant William Stalnecker is deeply grateful to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation for empowering him to pursue goals he once thought unattainable. In return, he pledges his time, effort, and loyalty to paying it forward and supporting others on their journey.
