While leading a team in Afghanistan, Explosive Ordnance Disposal tech Taylor Morris, stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED), and was immediately injured.

Taylor said, “As soon as I stepped on it, I knew. I heard the blast. I felt the heat. I knew I had lost my legs. As I somersaulted through the air, I watched my legs fly off.”

Even though Taylor was severely injured and had lost a tremendous amount of blood his focus was still on protecting those around him, warning oncoming medics to not come near him. “I told my buddies to stop. It would only have hurt me more if somebody stepped on another one.”

Taylor enjoys gardening and spending time with his loving parents, two sisters, and brother.

He and his wife Danielle, received their smart home on April 5, 2018.
