USMC CPL. Mathew Bowman is a native of Lafayette, Indiana – where Tunnel to Towers is building him his own custom mortgage-free smart home. Matt graduated high school in 2007 and attended basic training with the Marines in MCRD San Diego. He met his wife Paige and her son Jayce, who Mathew Later adopted, while stationed in Kingsbay Georgia and they married in June of 2009. They welcomed their second son (Brett) in March of 2010.
One Year after they married they changed duty stations, two months later he deployed to Afghanistan. While on foot patrol on February 28, 2011, he stepped on an IED.
He lost both legs above the knee, numerous fingers and teeth in the blast. They welcomed a third son (Liam) 11 months after is injuries. After a year and a half of rehabilitation and physical therapy at Walter Reed, he was able to return home with his wife and sons to Lafayette, Indiana. He has earned his degree from Purdue University in Social Studies Education. He has a full time teaching job, and is the assistant coordinator for his local Toys 4 Tots. He loves to play wheelchair basketball and coach his kids in their sports.
