United States Army E4 Specialist • Line of Duty Death: October 23, 2023

United States Army E4 Specialist Steven Patrick Waldron tragically passed away October 23, 2023, after a courageous battle with service-connected colon cancer.

Waldron grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, where his childhood was marked by camping and boating adventures with his parents, Joe and Abreanna, and brother, Christopher. He cherished the close-knit bonds he shared with his aunts and  cousins, which became a lasting source of joy in his life. From a young age, a profound interest in the military began to take root, steadily shaping both his aspirations and the path he would follow.

Driven by a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to growth, Waldron proudly joined the Army in 2007. He often remarked that this decision was the best he ever made. He loved the brotherhood of the military, viewing his fellow soldiers as family. He was known for volunteering for tough assignments, enjoying the adrenaline and camaraderie of combat. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action during his deployment. His notable achievements include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Action Badge.

Waldron first met his future wife, Leslie, on the night of her high school graduation at his brother’s house. This was a chance encounter that would unexpectedly mark the beginning of their journey together. From the start, Waldron felt a deep connection to Leslie and was deliberate in nurturing a relationship built on love and mutual care.

Leslie resides in Kentucky with her two daughters, Mia and Ella. They enjoy hiking, swimming, attending concerts, and anything in the sun. Leslie derives solace from her daughters, frequently observing reflections of Waldron within them. Her greatest anticipation lies in the prospect of travel and the creation of cherished memories with her children. Together, they carry Waldron’s love and spirit forward in all that they do.

United States Army E4 Specialist Steven Patrick Waldron is survived by his loving wife, Leslie, and their two beautiful daughters, Mia and Ella; his parents, Joe (Robin) and Abreanna; his brother, Christopher; his in-laws, Randall and Valerie; his sister and brother-in-law, Ashley and Steve; and his aunts, Lisa and Angie, and extended Aunts: Vickie, and Sandy.
