Line of Duty Death: December 17, 2013
On December 17th, 2013, United States Army Sergeant First Class Omar Wilfred Forde sustained fatal injuries from a helicopter crash brought down by enemy fire in the Zabul Province of Afghanistan.
Forde was born in Jamaica and raised in Marietta, Georgia. He graduated from Kennesaw Mountain High School in 2004 and joined the Army soon after in early 2005. He received training as an electronic war specialist and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, and 1st Infantry division out of Fort Riley, Kansas. Throughout his years of service, Forde reached the rank of Sergeant 1st Class, and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Forde’s love of his country came second only to his love for his family, both of which motivated him to join the military and fight to protect our great nation.
U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Omar Wilfred Forde is survived by his wife, Megan Forde, and his two boys, Ayden and Devery.
