Line of Duty Death: August 11, 2011

On August 11th, 2011, United States Army Sergeant Jameel Talib Freeman Sr. sustained fatal injuries when an Improvised Explosive Device detonated near his vehicle while serving in Nalgham, Afghanistan.

Freeman of Baltimore, Maryland was a part of ROTC during high school and quickly realized that working for the military would be a viable way to provide for his family. Freeman loved the action, he even earned a black belt in Martial Arts. Freeman joined the Army National Guard in 2002 and served there for seven years. He had plans to attend ranger school, become a drill instructor, and eventually reach the rank of 1st sergeant.

U.S. Army Sergeant Jameel Talib Freeman Sr. is survived by his wife, Jennifer Freeman, and his two children, a son and a daughter.
