Germany Vargas Silvestre

On June 27, 2016, United States Marine Corps Sergeant Germany Vargas Silvestre passed away suddenly due to illness attributed to his military service.

Silvestre was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he lived with his grandparents in the countryside before eventually moving in with his siblings. Silvestre’s parents had moved to the United States to give their family a better life, and were eventually able to send for their children and bring them to America. Silvestre was a naturally compassionate, caring person and felt called to serve the country he called home, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in April 2001. During his service, Silvestre took great pride in recruiting and mentoring young Marines.

United States Marine Corps Sergeant Germany Vargas Silvestre is survived by his wife, Marlene, and daughter, Penelope.
