Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries out its mission to "do good," by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Tunnel to Towers is also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001.

United State Marine Corps Sergeant • Line of Duty Death: February 6, 2018
On February 6th, 2018 United State Marine Corp SGT De’Aundrae Chantell Sims passed away after a two year battle with Chronic Myeloid leukemia attributed to his military service.
Sims was born in Meridian, Mississippi and grew up in Kemper County, Mississippi. Sims grew up with four brothers, and they all formed a close relationship. Sims spent his time working out, playing basketball, and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.
Sims always admired the United States Marine Corps and would enlist as soon as he was old enough at eighteen years old. Sims joined the Marine Corps in 2005, with the goal of making a career of his military service and retiring as a Marine. Sims loved everything about being a Marine; the brotherhood, the routine, and the travel. During Sims’s eleven year career, he earned many accolades and awards for his service, and also participated in many events,Toys for Tots being among his favorites.
Sims was a devoted father and step father, and a man of deep faith who attended church regularly. Sims is remembered by his friends and family as bull headed and fierce, but with an incredible sense of humor.
