United States Marine Corps Sergeant • Line of Duty Death: December 2, 2022

United States Marine Corps Sergeant Daniel Mullins passed away on December 2, 2022 after a lengthy battle with service-related cancer.

Mullins was born in Ocala, Florida and raised in Gainesville, Florida by his parents. His father was a masonry worker, specializing in fireplaces and stone work, and his mother was a nurse. Growing up, Mullins loved to fish with his father, as well as play baseball. In 2001, he and his wife, Amy, met in Southeast Alaska while commercial fishing for salmon.

Having had an interest in the military and knowing he wanted to serve from a young age, Mullins decided to enlist in the USMC in May of 2006, on his 24th birthday. His goals were to protect our country and be a part of the brotherhood; his passion was truly fulfilled. Throughout his honorable career, Mullins was awarded with two Purple Hearts and a Marine Corp Navy Achievement Award. In January of 2014, Mullins was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma, a brain cancer. After a nearly nine-year battle, he sadly passed away.

Currently, Amy lives with her three sons, Aidan, Mason, and Landon. She is actively involved with their sports and school activities. In addition, she enjoys playing pickleball with others in her community, attending the gym with her boys to workout together, and spending time outside. Amy also loves to pay it forward by being involved in A Hero’s organization. She aims to help others and give support as best as she can. In the future, Amy is excited to continue to watch her sons grow and see what they will achieve in life, knowing their father would be immensely proud of them. She is grateful to Tunnel to Towers for providing her family with a mortgage-free home so that she can continue raising her boys and be there for them as they grow older. Finally, Amy would like others to know that her husband was brave, honorable, and a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
